Virtually every word that is written or spoken, urging us to carefully monitor the foods that we consume, is worth listening to. Almost all of the food experts and nutritionists are giving us invaluable advice when they advise us which foods to eat and which consumable items to avoid putting into our bodies.
Even though many of us do heed the advice of our experts on foods and bodily nutrition, millinons of us are still in terrible health because of our eating habits. Increasing numbers of us seem to find it impossible to trim ourselves down to truly healthy sizes and maintain those healthy sizes long enough to become truly fit human beings.
We participate in all manner of exercise programs, from constant walking, to aerobics galore, to training like professional athletes. Still the growing majority of us Americans reside in detoriating, unhealthy bodies. What is our collective problem? What really is the matter with us? Although it seems to be obvious to many, very few of us are willing to say it out loud. The truth is that we, "Eat Too Much!."
No matter what we eat, "Good Foods," or "Bad Foods," we eat too darn much! We eat too much and too often for our bodies to attain and maintain good health and fitness.
Over-eating habits are thrust upon us from infancy on. Our parents and guardians grossly over feed us. We become addicted to foods. We become addicted to the process of being fed, or feeding ourselves. Along with habits of over-stuffing ourselves with food, we develop habits of exercising too little and too seldom to permit our bodies to rid themselves of the excess calories that we consume.
Most detrimental of all are the ingenious excuses that we develop to defend our habits of eating too much and exercising too little. We have become such experts of delusion and self-delusion that we are able to excuse ourselves directly to the, "fat farm." It is there that we are likely to reside for the rest of our unhappy, abreviated lives.
True, we might have been started on the path to unhealthy, destructive overeating while we were infants and could not do anything about it, but did we have to retain the habit of overeating, lifelong? Most of us pick and choose among childhood teachings and habits and alter or shed some of them as we progress into adolescence. The decision to remain overeaters was deliberate for the majority of us. It just felt too good to discard!
It is true that we are victimised by fast-food peddlers and marketers of consumable products that are over-loaded with ingredients that our bodies find it almost impossible to "burn off." But, do those fast-food peddlers and sellers of consumables filled with body fattening ingredients, sit with us during our feeding sessions, and force us to consume their products?
The very good news is that there is much to be hoped for! There really is hope that many of us Americans can become svelte, trim, fit and healthy persons. That hope can be realized by those of us who will turn deaf ears to all food hustlers and eschange the pleasures of eating for the pleasures of living in strong, beautiful, healthy bodies.
That hope is realizable for those of us who will continue to listen to the gurus of nutirtion and will also honestly admit to the "sin" of overeating and," STOP EATING TOO MUCH!"
