There are tons of great movie lines and quotes out there for the picking. Coming up with some of my favorites took a while, as there are so many great movies to choose from. However, I did finally manage to whittle down my extensive movie collection to these eight quotes. Some are from the more mainstream movies that most people know about from more recent movies, like the ones from Ace Ventura, Pet Detective or Back to the Future.

Some are from older movies like The Godfather or Court Jester. The others are in the general category of "other". They aren't really part of mainstream movies, but they do have devotees. In one case, the one from McClintock, it's rather a family joke and is used when I call my parents or they call me. Dunno why, but it grew into a tradition.

These quotes are done in the following format: quote, movie, character that said it.

First is the rather common and much used, "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse"Godfather, Don Vito Corleone.

Then there is the family traditional greeting when calling each other, "Ho Maclan, swell party, where's the whiskey?"McClintock, Running Buffalo.

This one is from a musical called 1776', about the creation of the Declaration of Independence: "I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! And by God, I have had this Congress! For ten years, King George and his Parliament have gulled, cullied, and diddled these colonies with their illegal taxes! Stamp Acts, Townshend Acts, Sugar Acts, Tea Acts! And when we dared stand up like men, they have stopped our trade, seized our ships, blockaded our ports, burned our towns, and spilled our BLOOD! And still, this Congress refuses to grant ANY of my proposals on independence, even so much as the courtesty of open debate! Good God, what in hell are you waiting for?"1776, John Adams.

After this movie came out, these equally popular quotes were often heard: "Reeeheeeheeeheeeealllly." And "Lahoo, zaher (loser)"Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Ace Ventura.

Of course, if someone where to knock on your forehead, most likely they were also going to say: "Hello!
McFly!"Back to the Future, Biff Tannen.
