Diamond lake fishing is a must fishing retreat in the heart of oregon. Its beautiful and scenic surrounding provide some of the best trout fishing in oregon. After its troubles the lake has rebounded well. The fish and game has done well to bring it back to life.Although it is mainly a lake where a boat is required the fishing is good.
The marina provides daily rentals on boats and most anglers come back with a full compliment on their stringers. Camp sites are also available on a first come first serve so get their early or you may not get the campsite you want.Their are also cabins for rent near the marina.Stores and gas nearby as well.
Fishing at diamond lake can be some what challenging to first time fisherman. So come prepared to do things different. One of the keys to diamond lake is to move your boat into the more deeper waters of the lake. You will find out the shore fishing is next to impossible on this lake. The shallow waters near shore provide little or no fishing. But perserve the fact that this is a fishing lake.
Boat speeds are ten miles per hour.So no water sking. The waters of this lake have a large amount of vegetation and moss. You can easily get tangled or lose your rig so be careful in these areas.Because your going want to give them a try. Most of the bigger trout are found hiding under the moss and vegetation.
This year should be fantastic. Starting in late April.Simply dropping a sinker in these areas is probally not the answer but you could try.The most affected way to entice those big fish out of their hiding places is to try a spinner or rooster tail.Throw it out in between the moss and vegetation and let it sink down for a few seconds and then start reeling in.If you see a fish chase it. Slow down to let him take it.It'll be a nice two to five pounder for sure.Possibly bigger.
Worms and power bait have also been good on a bobber in these areas.Including a long leader may increase your chances.Double hooking is encouraged to increase your chances. For the excellent angler the suggestion is to use four pound tess for one heck of a fight. But six pound if your not sure. The best way to catch fish at this lake is a very simply way.A method that works on most trout just about anywhere.Works great here.Simply tie a trouble hook to the end of your line.Use one split shot about ten inches up from the hook.Put a knot in the split so it doesn't slip down.Put some power bait.Let it float around and the fun will soon begin.Your day should end with a fish fry and campfire.Good luck
