I Want to Ride
Daddy held my left hand on that bright summer day
Ferris wheel up ahead, candle apple in my right
As that wheel spun around I saw a blue-eyed boy
Staring down at me from the heavens, I blushed and ran
I want to ride, Daddy, on that big round wheel
I want to feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair
I want to meet that boy I saw up in the air
Tell me his name daddy, I have an apple he can share
Tommy was a poor boy, grew up on the wrong side
I loved his crooked smile and that motorcycle he let me ride
Momma died when I was young, daddy let me ride with him
All the way to Jersey Shore and all the way back again
I said: I want to ride Daddy, on that big round wheel
I want to feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair
I want to meet that boy I saw in the air
Tell me I can go daddy, we have so much to share
Destiny pushed me down an aisle faster than I could smile:
On the East End Ferry
Daddy held my left hand on that bright sunny day
With a tear in his eye, he said your momma's real proud today
I said: I want to ride Daddy, on that big round wheel
I want to feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair
I want to meet that boy up there, in the air
Tell me I can go daddy, we have so much to share
He said Go Darling, to the end of the aisle
Every day you've been with him, was a day that you smiled
Share that world with that boy up there
I love you darling, you two have so much to share
