I was told about a mom who arrived to pick her daughter up from daycare,
only to see her only daughter in tears, "Mom, I can't find my bear!"
My heart ached for the poor little girl, her tears running down her pink coat
so home I went and figured, at least I could write her a little note.
That evening I wrote her a letter, and a bear of my own child's I found
sitting so lonely in the closet, I could almost see his frown.
I brought the bear and the letter and dropped them off for the child
as today is her last day, her family is moving and will be gone for a very long while.
The very next day I heard that the girl was given the bear and the letter,
my heart sang to hear that she fell in love with the bear, oh to hear she is feeling better!
I was scared she wouldn't take the replacement very well,
but she opened up her heart, and now I have this great story to tell..
And to think that she almost had to leave her home to live in a strange new place,
without her best friend, without her teddy bear's cuddly little face.
Here are the words that I found for the letter I wrote,
from a little lost bear to a sad little girl, from here on I quote:
Sweet little girl, I heard that you lost your bear
somewhere here inside of your daycare.
I'm a lost bear too, so I just had to help you look for him,
so I began late last night and I searched until the bright sun shone in.
I looked in all the cubbies and cribs, everywhere and all around,
I searched under all the toys that were left here on the ground.
I looked high and low, I even pretended I was as small as an elf,
I peeked under the desks, and even between the books on the bookshelf,
until finally I just sat and cried for you, I'm very sorry little one,
I'm sorry that I couldn't find him for you, I wish this could all be undone.
Sweet child, may I ask, would you consider taking me home?
This place is lonely at night; it's not a very fun place to roam.
I lost my little girl, I really miss her, and it's too scary here at night,
so do you think you could take me home and sleep with me so tight?
I will be your best friend and love you forever,
I know you are moving away, but I will go with you wherever!
Hugs!
Love, Bear
