Guide to flagging a Helium article as inappropriate

from the drop down menu and include the URL for the source in the space provided for comments.

If you're flagging from user tools, choose the Flag Plagiarism button on screen. This will bring up a special screen that has two fields for URLs. Please enter the URL for the article and the URL for the source in the marked fields.

Plagiarism is a serious charge. Helium will conduct a thorough investigation of each plagiarism flag. Sometimes an article that appears to be plagiarism turns out to have been published by the same author under a different pen name. Helium's investigation is exhaustive to protect the innocent and to insure the guilty are punished.

Try Check for Plagiarism On the Web For Free to look for sources when you suspect plagiarism. This site works better than a straight Google search and will cost you nothing to use.

The Off-Topic flag is useful when you find an article where the author has wandered off course and hasn't addressed the topic, please flag. The article will be deleted and the writer sent a message explaining that their article is off topic. Note that the member is welcome to resubmit that same article under an appropriate topic.

Helium strives to be the source for reliable and accurate information on the Internet. When you see an article that contains incorrect information, you are helping Helium and the writer by flagging. Our experts will check the article and if they agree with your assessment, the writer will be given two weeks to make needed corrections. If the deadline passes without correction, the article will be deleted.

Use Other when your concern doesn't fit any of the other menu choices. Please don't use this for spelling, formatting, limited or grammar. Use Contact this writer instead.

When you flag an article your positive action helps maintain Helium's high community standards and helps our writers maintain their own standards. Flagging says yes to high standards. You aren't tattling, you're helping. Helium has thousands and thousands of articles. Each time you spot a problem you help raise our standards even higher.
