Poetry: Hospitals

(Hospital Walls)

Walk hands in pockets locked from view
Concealing the sweat
"We'll be okay, we'll be alright"
You mouth
Head down to the lifeless ground as you pace

Knowing every room with doors half-open
Bearing frailty and struggle
In half-stares of longing and deathly cold light
Will they? (Be alright?)

Tearing the heart out
Of a foolish young boy
That has everything there waiting
Just wishing he was something more

Chills felt at that reality
Knocking on pale windows
That find clasped hands
With tearful smiles
Painting a thousand pictures towards our uncertain stares

Frozen time halts the worlds of the weary
Where here you can become anyone's best friend
By offering a welcome hand of understanding
"We'll fight this together"

Unworthy visitors draped in security of life
Brave corridor walks
Beating aside the pull of running away
With fearful steps and focused thoughts
Of getting those close OUT

The strongest warriors writhing in silent beds
Surrounded with empty walls

We are all heroes here
