How to handle a long-distance relationship

Handling a long distance relationship is challenging. When two individuals are away from each other too long external factors can disturb the quality of the bond. The best way to handle a long distance relationship is to keep in contact and use the time allotted wisely to spend with one another. Long distance relationships are not for everyone. Some people can not handle the pressures of this dynamic. However, for the people that make it work, it can be a wonderful experience. The "digital age" we currently live in makes it very easy for people to stay in contact with each other even when they are far away from each other. However, that is only one way.

Call Each other

If you hardly see your "love", make sure you call him or her daily. If you do not call someone, this shows you do not care. Make yourself a presence in his or her life. It is easier to fade in the background when there is no activity. Make the calls pleasant and memorable. Set a specific time and place for the call. Set it up like a date. Make it special.

Send Pictures

I'm not talking about sending one through an e-mail either. I talking about sending one the old fashion way. Do this every two weeks. Send out three pictures of yourself that are classy and memorable. I suggest giving him or her two body shots and one half shot. Let them see you in a few ways. The purpose of these pictures is to help keep the relationship fresh.

Send Letters

Once again this is not the "new" way. Sometimes doing things the "old fashion" way is more romantic. Send a letter with a "scent" in side the note. Make sure you convey your feelings in a kind and loving way. The note can be as long as you want it to be. If you want to, put something unique at the bottom of it. For example , P.S. I love you."

Gifts

Every two weeks send a nice gift to your "love". They will appreciate it more because of the distance. You can send a gadget or piece of jewelry. It depends on the person you are sending it to. Ask them what they would like to make it easier for yourself. They will be happy to know you are thinking about them.

Video Cam

This is where you high tech is in. Make sure your computer has a web cam and talk to your beau that way. Do this on a regular basis to keep the lines of communication open. You want your "love" to know you are thinking about them and have not forgotten about them just because they are far away.

All relationships have challenges and rewards. A long distance bond is challenging as well. The good news is that it brings two individuals closer than ever.
