Foods that keep you from looking old

We all want to retain our youth and not succumb to the ageing process.

There are so many foods available to assist in making this dream a reality, with those available in your own country preferable before others. This theory is reccommended as foods grown in local regions not only save on fossil fuels by reducing the travel involved in transportation, but are suited to the climate and needs of the body for that season.

The basic rule of thumb for minimising aging, is to maintain an 80% Alkaline, 20% Acid foods diet at all times. This is the perfect balance (equilibrium) for the human body and has been proven over and over worldwide. Basically, 80% fruit and vegetables along with 20% everything else.

Foods need to be as fresh as possible, preferably eaten within 3 days of picking, as well as organic for full nutritional value. There are a plethora of sites available online to supply lists of foods under each group and make it easy to ascertain which foods are categorised as Alkaline or Acid. The fresher the vegetables, the greater value. By this I mean it is best to eat raw than cooked wherever possible.

It is also advisable to drink approximately 2 litres of water per day to flush the system and keep skin hydrated, therefore keeping wrinkles at bay longer. The combination of copious amounts of fresh water and correct intake of Acid and Alkaline, ensures a healthy digestive system, therefore greater absorption of nutrients, and beautiful shiny hair and skin. The skin glows from head to toe once the body has completed its detox and stabilised.

To gain even better results, drink high antioxidant juices and teas. Examples of these are as follows:

Mangosteen, Ganoderma (Reishi), Ginseng, Green organic tea, Berry mix, Rosehips, Gingko Biloba, Gotu Kola to name a few teas.

Beetroot, Kakadu Plum, Berry mix, Carrot and Ginger, Aloe Vera, Guava, Dragon Fruit (red), Leafy Greens and Spirulina with Pineapple, Papaya and Mango, Dark Grape, Goji Berry, Acai Berry, Apricot, Lychee, Dark Plum and Prune.

All of the above drinks will assist in maintaining the cell structure of the skin and internal systems, as well as fight free-radicals that enable cancer to take a hold. Drinking Aloe Vera juice (approx. 50ml per day), heals the digestive tract, enabling maximum absorption of foods and nutrient uptake. Combine a spoon of Spirulina powder, 50ml Aloe Vera and Grape or other juice and drink before breakfast (or in place of breakfast). This combination ensures a good supply of calcium
