Most definitely hurt our economy overall. Any gains in jobs made most likely will be at a loss of other jobs, and with the inflationary taxes factored in on this debt, whatever tax cuts made to middle class Americans won't be a wash. The bill also does nothing to help those Americans who have already lost their homes, simply provides incentives for new purchasers and those in danger at this point. Nothing for those who are already victims of this tsunami, with credit ratings that will preclude them most likely from a new home purchase anytime in the near future, if ever again if older Americans.
It appears in all the articles, rhetoric and spins now going on in the print and television media with respect to this almost 1 trillion dollar (including interest) spending bill of the Democrats with the Republicans ineffectively standing by performing their "act" this past week for the American people on the major news stations, one question has been missing. Is this bill Constitutional, therefore, is it even legal? If the answer is in the negative, then those that are pushing for this legislation are actually committing a criminal act, not a stimulus for this country at all. How can you "stimulate" the country by placing it at an additional 1 trillion dollar deficit, resulting in inflationary taxes that will wipe out any gains, economic or otherwise, that such drastic illegal measures engender?
There was an interesting comment on one of the mainstream news websites by one of my fellow countrymen and his observations, which apparently quite a few of us in America are actually sitting back with our mouths open while all this is going on, and simply stated the obvious:
"Have Republicans become Democrats? Have Democrats become Communists? Have both parties truly lost their minds?"
In reading through all the various recipients of the stimulus sums, a great deal of which is also going to fund increasing government at the state and local level also and in giving more jobs to the public sector at the cost of the private sector and all taxpayers, is included the most horrendous abridgement of citizens civil rights since the Bush Administrations' Patriot Act - and that is a national healthcare data base for the storage and transmission of medical records on the medical history and treatment of all Americans. The spin, of course, that is being put on this egregious privacy and civil rights violation, which cannot be "opted out of," by the way, is that it will create more jobs in
