How fleeting the days
When you the mere child
still dazed, amazed,
By fatherly pranks, jokes and japes
Metamorphosis
from your young cocoon
You're 12, going on 20
I've lost you too soon
That puberty bus
hit you with a rush
Does oestrogen come with the cornflakes these days?
Little girl
Nowhere to be seen
Replaced with vampish, would-be beauty queen
Astride the Net you cruise these days
Breaking boys' hearts
in various ways that weren't even heard of
When we learned our stuff
And all we can do
Is cry out
"get off that damned Runescape...
you've had quite enough"
"... and I want my chair back!"
Futile I know, 'cos you've got to grow.
Shakira,
complex daughter,
You worry me so.

I'm a big girl now
I can walk on my own
with every step that I take
I'm making the world my home
I'm a big girl now
Don't tell

Our youth slowly fades
New fears arise
Life isn't all parades
Our bodies change
We don't recognize
