Moms looking chic: How to update your summer look

LESS IS MORE FOR OLDER CHIC MOMS

Her blonde hair is shiny, clean and tied back neatly. She wears a simple, small tee shirt, just a little tight and short, not baring the midriff and a pair of faded jeans with jeweled sandals. Her only jewelry is a couple of small diamond studs in her ears. She is lightly tanned, not lizard brown from a tanning booth. Her make up is light. Some waterproof mascara and lip gloss. She wears a moisturizer. She's spritzed with a peachy upscale body spray. She's 48 and looks 27, maybe 30. Why? She's natural, fresh, clean and not smeared in cakey make-up which pile up in those inevitable crevices between her eyes and around her mouth. She's completely comfortable with who she is and how she looks. She looks healthy, a bit athletic.

The desire to look presentable and fashionable and yes, in some instances, sexy, is a female prerogative even in middle age. With Less Is More, as a woman's philosophy, she can pull it off naturally. Alot of women, once they begin to age, feel a bit insecure about lines. But with a good night's rest and a good moisturizer, and perhaps a light tan, she can look and feel attractive. I would advise women to completely avoid red lipstick after 50. Please, I can't take it. I had a grandmother who loved the stuff, but it doesn't love the older woman. It is a hideous attention grabber and it should be against the law for older women to wear. The same code should apply to nail polish also. For toes, please, short nails are healthier. And do you find yourself getting episodes of dastardly fungal growth? Get a toothbrush, (you know, one you don't intend to put in your mouth) and lemon juice or white vinegar and scrub. You can also, if you've got a nasty case of it, soak your feet in soapy, hot bleach water, initially.

I'm not really into looking sexy. I just like looking at a good-looking man when one ambles along. Women, don't feel guilty about looking! I mean, as long as you don't go into some psychotic masturbation mode (and if you have this problem, forgive me of my insensitivity here) and lose touch with reality, looking at guys is a-okay.

If you want to be carefree attractive, take the Marley advice, Don't Worry, Be Happy. Smile. Yes, you are aging. It is inevitable and it beats the alternative. Don't forget the calcium and C for the skin and bones. The more you use your mind, the more alert you will remain. Remember, fill your mind with as much positive knowledge as you can, but get with reality too. Conversation
