Living in the moment: What about tomorrow?

by Tony Gomes

"Yesterday is the past and tomorrow is the future. Today is a gift - that's why they call it the present."

Do not be anxious about tomorrow. Said Jesus Christ, for tomorrow will look after itself. of course that doesn't mean we shouldn't think about tomorrow, but it clearly stated the importance of not being anxious or too worried about what tomorrow hold.

"Stop being anxious about your souls as to what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your bodies as to what you will wear. . . . Observe intently the birds of heaven, because they do not sow seed or reap or gather into storehouses; still your heavenly Father feeds them. . . . Who of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his life span?

We stress about tomorrow, we worry and plan about our future, the concept of time's overrated. Tomorrow starts now, don't even think about tonight, think about this instant moment now, now is time, now is the only time you can be sure about, now go ahead and feel, live it and love it " for the love of God", and quit all tomorrow's will.

Never be anxious about tomorrow because anxiety will not help you resolve anything you're facing, but in the contrary will most worsen your situation. sometimes we feel anxious about tomorrow we forget about the things we could do today. let tomorrow come, if it comes. let it happen, for you do not know what tomorrow will give birth to.

We need to be practical because many things we worry about never happen, just futile worries. The truth is, its much wiser living each day as it comes, especially when the pressures and problems we face could create anxiety in us.

We all are aware of our necessities in life and we all somehow try to pursue them, but how many plans we made that never had a slightest chance coming to fruition? Things we wont yet live to see, dreams shattered, prone to accidents, natural disaster, diseases and more, point being we don't know what tomorrow will bring, or if it will be another tomorrow, sometimes wait for tomorrow can be a waste of time and life itself.

Imagine you were given only one day to live, and you want to live it to the fullest, no worries, no attachments for tomorrow, at the end of that day you'd be glad you had good time, sometimes that's what life really is, one big day, with breaks for sleep and such, but the same day progress, and tomorrow never existed.

But with life come responsibilities, we have to feed and shelter ourselves and clothe our kids, and I'd be a liar if I told you I don't have big dreams and big plans, but for today there's no stressing about that, for the day's almost through and I'm just not going to worry about it. Tomorrow!? Maybe, but I still doubt it. For now, why not pour another glass of wine, turn on the music on the low-beat, and enjoy this moment like there's no tomorrow.
