The internet has become a perfectly acceptable, and even "normal" means of finding a potential mate in today's society. Many things that were "taboo" even 10 years ago, are today commonplace. While the means of finding a partner may have changed though, many of the important aspects of finding that special someone have not. You still need to promote yourself in the same way as you would in person except now you are doing so through text.

I have gone out of my way to question as many women as possible who are currently looking for men via online personals, to see exactly what it is that they are looking for in an ad, and what it is that prompts them to reply to some and to ignore others. I have spoken to women ranging in age from 20 to over 60. Women of different race, and nationality, and from all different backgrounds.

Of course all women want to meet their "Prince Charming". You and I know that doesn't really exist, but you still need to come across as close as possible to one, while at the same time being honest about yourself. The quickest way to turn a woman off is to get caught lying to her. Besides, who wants to start a relationship off on the wrong foot by beginning things with lies? Deep down, women know that their "Prince Charming" doesn't exist either, but they are still thrilled by the prospect of possibly finding one. So what we need to do is make you seem like a Prince Charming, while at the same time keeping things real. She really DOES want to know the real you! She may not want to know ALL of it right away, but she does want to know it.

First let's look at the top things women do NOT want to see in an ad

Sex Coming across as if all you want is sex is one of the quickest ways for a woman to skip right past your ad. Mentioning sex in an ad is not taboo, but sounding as if that is all you want will get you passed up pretty much quicker than anything else. Your best bet is not to bring up sex at all. Pictures of your genitalia Why are there TONS of porn sites out there specifically for men, but relatively few for women? They like sex as much as we do, but for them it is an emotional thing. She doesn't even know you yet! There are NO emotions involved at this point! Women who are looking for just sex, are at a party right now, not searching online. They know they have the power of choosing who they will land that night. Women online are looking for a relationship. Sex will come later.
