The Old Pink Sweater
She came to school everyday in the old tattered pink sweater, although it was 12 degree weather.
She was polite and but not very smart .
She also had a very sore spot in the center of her heart.
She was in need of a friend, someone to listen to her concerns.
she needed a mentor , someone to help her grow and learn
I was just the person to lend her a listening ear
I wanted to mentor her and ease all her fears
We became good friends , and I have watched her grow
She enjoys spending time with me and I just love her so
She seems so much happier and so content
I guess that is what mentoring an at-risk child really meant
Depositing happiness and joy into the life of another
it didn't matter about her home life or her skin color
She had a need and I was glad that I could help
Mentoring a child is fun
If you have been thinking about it, now is your chance to take the next step.
