Eating disorders are nothing to take lightly, just as choosing proper treatment for you or your loved one is nothing to take lightly. Having been in a personal battle with eating disorders for nearly ten years, I understand the importance of quality when choosing a treatment program. The following is a brief list of the very best eating disorder treatment facilities in the West, along with a short description of their programs.

If you or your loved one is not a resident of Utah or Arizona, I highly recommend thinking seriously about making the trip to either of the following centers, if at all possible. Both are exceptional in their staff, programs, care, and experience.

UTAH:

Center for Change (www.centerforchange.com offers treatment for adolescent and adult women with eating disorders. Speaking from experience, Center for Change is phenomenal. I grew close to the staff and felt at home in the doors of the facility. Center for Change offers acute inpatient and residential care, both which include medical examinations and treatment that is structured to your specific needs. Various types of therapy are provided, and every single therapist working at Center for Change is outstanding. Outpatient and aftercare programs are also available, and for those who do not stay as a resident at Center for Change are welcome to participate in any of the outpatient programs available. They will assist you in finding the right therapist for you, and are very informative, both online and in person. Center for Change also offers accredited high school education for those who are in need of a recovery program while still in school. Education is provided by Cascade Mountain High School, more information is available on Center for Change's website. Center for Change is specialized in the treatment of anorexia and bulimia nervosa, and also offer programs for emotional/binge eating, as well as treatment relating substance abuse in eating disorder patients.

ARIZONA:

Remuda Ranch (www.remudaranch.com offers treatment for both males and females with eating disorders. Remuda Ranch offers a 45-60 day treatment, which includes various types of therapy, given by experienced and professional psychologists. Individual assessment will be given to each patient that enters the program, and proper medical care and nutrition are provided.
