Circumstance is what determines the right or wrong of this question. Although, personally carnivore is the camp I stand in. Now I haven't eaten everything but I am willing to try most things. I do scream uncle when it comes to beating cobra hearts, warthog anus and durian though and I hope to god I am never in the position of being in someone's home and these things are served. All in all I choose carnivore because it offers so many tasty options:
Beef - It's what's for dinner.
Veal - Baby cow is delicious.
Rabbit - I'm in the mood for stew.
Venison - Bambi had to die some time.
Pork - God's tastiest animal.
Chicken, Duck, Turkey and other poultry - Finger licking good.
Remember you are reading the words of a man who has eaten brains, tripe, liver, wild boar and rabbit (I know rabbit isn't that extreme, but I did have a pet rabbit and it was still my first choice on the menu regardless).
My problems with vegetarians/vegans are these: the quasi religious fervor they have about it and the unbridled opulence you must have to do it. Now of course if it is a religious/medical/or just overall taste issue that is different. If you tell me you don't want to eat a steak because it is against your religion, doctor's orders, or you simple hate the taste of it, then ok. I won't think you a spoiled brat, just unlucky.
However, for those that choose not to eat meat out of some misguided Para militaristic religious social demonstrative ideal I ask you to travel to a poor third worlds country and tell them you have access to an abundance of food that you choose no to eat, and how good you feel about yourself for not doing so. Please I implore you to get on your soap box and yell at them with same passion you attack a backyard barbeque, as a child goes another night malnourished. As a matter of fact you don't even have to travel at all.
In your local area, drive to the poorer part of town and bust in on a family dinner of meatloaf and tell them about how you once looked into the eye of a cow and now you can't stand to eat meat.
Now ultimately, I don't think it is wrong to be a vegetarian, just a preachy one. If you really have a problem with something dying in order for you to live that is an issue you have to come to terms with. Remember, others don't have the luxury, they are just worried about where the next meal is coming from.
Also remember that plants were alive too, maybe they don't look you in the eye, but you did kill them as well. Finally, if I see you eating a veggie substitute meat product i.e. bacon, hotdog or burger I reserve the right to switch it out for the real deal.
