Spring Wind in Your Hair puts Joy in my Heart
The first warm day
I drop everything to
Take you for a walk
Around the block
The wind makes you blink and turn your head
Big and little shoes
Your tiny feet at double pace
Just to keep up with me
Little words from your mouth
Doggie. Ruf, ruf! Birdie, ooh! Mommy, Go! Mommy!
You walk along
Then you stop short
To amuse yourself and
To make me smile
Giggling with delight and eyes sparkling
Then you run flailing
Arms and legs flapping
Later, at naptime
My eyes are wet because
I can still smell the spring wind in your hair

Each day enhances her sweet grace and charm,
