There are many reasons we can wake up with puffy eyes in the morning. Some reasons are too much salt intake in your diet or not enough water intake or even allergies to certain things can cause puffy eyes. Worst of all is heredity which can be a culprit as well. Some other causes are high alcohol intake or fluctuating hormone levels. But the good news is that is all treatable with some basic home remedies that are not too expensive

One really good remedy is using ice cubes. Upon rising in the morning get some ice cubes and dab them on the affected areas of the eyes until the swelling begins to subside.

Another remedy that works and is more commonly known is cold cucumber slices. The cold does more for the cure than the cucumber but the aroma is soothing and calming. Used tea bags that have been refrigerated also help. The coldness is what does most of the work but there is an astringent in the tea leaves that adds to the soothing comfort needed for these weary eyes.

Getting enough sleep could also be a culprit in related to puffy eyes. It is noted that adults need at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep a day to function not only mentally but physically as well. So to function and look your best sleep may be the only answer you need.

Drinking more water can be beneficial in more ways than one. If you are dehydrated and did not know it you could be faced with puffy eyes in the morning along with a few other health risks. We are often recommended to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water per day, unfortunately too many of us do not get that.

The good news is that there are so many water products on the market today that we can find one we like and up the anti on drinking more of them. Challenge yourself for a season to drink so much per day and increase as needed to get to the desired amount and see if that doesn't change things for you. Try changing your diet, eat less salt, snack on bananas and raisins which reduce water intake, exercise more to improve circulation in your body.

If having tried all these things over an extended period of time you find no changes see your doctor and if it is determined to be hereditary learn to accentuate some other things about you that are more positive and draw attention away from those eyes.
