Gone are the days of treating young women with the respect and love most of them desire deep down inside. In today's society Young women are depicted as desperate boy toys with out a heart. They are no longer depicted as Young impressionable women in need of love and affection. Even in the cartoons such as Tom and Jerry women are maids, who don't need to care for their appearances. In some of or black programs we are depicted as loud unmarried and with lot of children out of control. "New York goes to Hollywood" She is pictured as a air headed women who focuses on her love relationship as though it is the answer to all her problems. Fixing it should not be her primary focus. I believe she should focus more on improving the quality of her character more than on male relationships. If she finds ways to improve who she is and how she affects the world around her then these relationships will take care of them selves. I believe women should focus more on themselves and how they are perceived in reality and not on how to make some one see them period. The first impressions are lasting although with hard work they can be changed
Our young women are bombarded with media ads and programs that depict them as desperate empty headed whores on display. Programs that come on Vh1, BET or some music videos such as, "I love New York" described as "the returning guest from hell" or "For the Love of Ray Jay" in this show the women are willing to display themselves in their underwear with the hopes that he will like what he sees and select them. They are giving no thought to the fact that the planet if they choose can see what he sees. There is no more secrecy, no more hidden treasures, no more respect for oneself any more. We are depicted as women who should not be afraid to be on display. Women like the rap artist "Lil Kim" who displays herself all over the internet in raspy forbidden poses sowing much more than should be revealed, and unfortunately young women who view this learn ways to undermine themselves in their every day lives. Some of them look up to these types of women. It's no wonder many black women are not taken serious. They are indirectly informed that in order to get a man or find any recognition in this world they must be willing to do almost anything to get where they want to be. They are indirectly and directly told that in order to find success they must grovel, beg and plead with the men who have attained a level of success in this world, because "he is
