Is it fair to send Marion Jones to jail for using steroids is an excellent question? Should Marion, be the only person using steroids, then my answer would be very easy and I would say a clear big YES.

Marion unfortunately is not the only person using steroids; I would in fact say that most athletes participating in the Olympic Games uses some kinds of steroids.

The unfortunate game is that scientists are working around the clock to find steroids that will not be found in the blood when tested while the Olympic team and doctors are fighting to find methods to find these new steroids all the time.

Sometimes if the conscience of the athlete would be calm and remain calm no one would ever find out. So lately in some cases it is only when an athlete speaks out that we suddenly know about steroids.

So the questions are of course why are athletes using steroids and who is really responsible for their use. The answer is very easy, we all are responsible! We demand to see better athletes, better results and higher standards. Countries are fighting to get a maximum number of gold medals and the groups around athletes have their fame they want to push forward.

This means that every one in the chain is responsible for seeing athletes using steroids of some kind so that results will be much higher and better. What can be the solution that would satisfy all? Stopping all the steroids? Yes this can be a solution, but it will mean that all the results we know will suddenly be lowered and a new base will be found. People will be astonished to what the base will lower results to.

The other solution will be to allow specific steroids that all can use and be checked for and then we can continue with the results that exist today and go on from here. This is a decision that the Olympic committee and countries will have to take.

So coming back to Marion, she is the one that admitted using steroids and not the tests. Also if the demand of using them would not have been, most athletes would not use them. Most of the time the countries and their Olympic committees are the ones nearly forcing athletes to use them otherwise they cannot participate in the games. Which country does not want to win gold medals in one way or another?

To conclude Marion should not have been sent to jail since all athletes use steroids but only some are caught or admit it. It is either all or none but not some that should go to jail for being honest.
