Tips for buying storage solutions for kids' rooms

this or wire framed, fabric covered trays. Measure the length, width and depth of the drawer before you shop for these so that you can maximize the use of space and try out different configurations in the shop.

The top of the wardrobe is an excellent place to keep items that are not used frequently. Choose pretty paper covered shoe boxes or hat boxes to store photographs, cards and keepsakes. These can be bought in various shapes and sizes and often come with a slot in label.

Larger versions of these cardboard storage boxes can be found in home decor shops and are useful for storing dolls clothes.

Under bed storage is available in plastic stackables but I prefer the wicker variety with casters. I use them to store bulkier items, such as Sylvannian bakery or Polly Pocket shopping mall. I theN keep the tiny pieces that go with these in a variety of tins, boxes and containers. It really does make things so much easier when it comes to playing with these things and putting away.

Finally, plastic stackable boxes are a must. You can buy these in all shapes and sizes but I find the most versatile is the square shape. These days you can buy these in a colour to match the room and I opted for white with pink lids. I use them to store bath toys, play doh, Barbie dolls and clothes and stationery.

Getting storage right will save you a lot of work in the long run and if you choose carefully you can actually enhance the look of your child's room by choosing storage using different colours and textures.
