A dog with a tail wagging, a kitten purring and a bird chirping. What do these pets have in common? Very likely the fact that they communicate positive feelings in their owners. Indeed, pets seem to have the power of making people happy and they do seem to accomplish this in several different ways.
More and more pets are used nowadays, as therapy pets. It is not rare to find a dog dressed up as a clown in children hospitals or a cat purring on a geriatric patient's bed. These pets seem to play important roles in communicating a sense of well being and relaxation to those chronically or terminally ill.
Studies actually were able to demonstrate that pets are able to lower blood pressure and reduce stress.
Children are particularly fond of pets. A child will be found giggling after a dog licking her feet or from watching a cat playing with a string. Many best childhood memories involve stories about pets and the many ways they have turned ordinary days into plain and simple extraordinary. Pets can be a child's best friend, wonderful play mates with so much to give.
Teenagers often may find live difficult. They may struggle through difficult years ahead and they may often feel misunderstood. A walk in the park with their dog may cheer them up. A pet may allow an adolescent to feel less lonely and their unconditional love may be a wonderful gift.
Seniors benefit greatly from pets. Lonely seniors may find new interest in life by catering to a four legged friend. The simple fact of being able to enjoy the great outdoors by walking a dog is a nice way to keep healthy and in good shape. Not to mention the health benefits that come along with owning pets.
Each type of pet in their own way has their own charm. Dogs keep their tails wagging, they greet owners, they offer unconditional love, they make people laugh in so many ways. Cats are great lap warmers, they offer wisdom and appreciation of all the little things in life. They are playful and extremely relaxing. Birds spread happiness, their chirping voices are synonyms of joy for life. They are nice to watch and caring for them helps give life a special meaning. Fish offer an insight to a whole different world. Looking at them swim offers great opportunities for relaxation and are quite fascinating creatures to observe.
As seen pets offer many opportunities to rejoice. They may teach owners new perspectives of life while offering many opportunities to enjoy life at the fullest. The only drawback is that their lives compared to ours may be way too short, however, their memories surely last a lifetime and will stay with us, forever in our hearts.
