"There's more than corn in Indiana" If you visit Indiana long enough you will hear some Hoosier singing this tune from the commercial promoting the one and only "Indiana Beach." Although there are more corn fields than one could possibly imagine, Indiana has some hidden treasures that are worth seeking out.
As mentioned, Indiana Beach is one of many adventurous treasures found in Monticello, IN. It is connected to Lake Shafer. Indiana Beach is not your basic beach. It is a beach, amusement park and resort all rolled into one. You will find some of Indiana's finest treats at every corner, including the deep-fried twinkie.
Besides the rides and beach, Indiana Beach has a refreshing water park filled with water slides, the lazy river and Splash Bash. Morgan RV Resorts bought Indiana Beach in 2008 so you can choose to stay in the resort or camp out in one of their wonderful campgrounds.
Looking for another amusement/water park? Holiday World & Splashin' Safari is the place to be. Although there is nothing cold about Holiday World in the summer, you will find it located in Santa Claus, Indiana. This park is filled with many water and amusement rides. It houses the Voyage Roller Coaster, voted #1 in 2008 as the best wooden roller coaster on the planet.
If that isn't enough to entice you, their soft drinks are free and unlimited! They have a nice choice of restaurants available and even cater to people with food allergies. Check it out!
If amusement/water parks are not your taste in fun then how about camping? Indiana has some wonderful campgrounds. Spring Mill State Park is quite a treasure. Located in Southern Indiana, Spring Mill has many secrets ready to be discovered. From their restored pioneer village to touring the Twin Caves to visiting the Grissom Memorial, even that is the tip of what they have to offer.
Spring Mill is surrounded by oak trees and scenic hills. The hiking trails are beautiful and their caves are ready to be explored. This is definitely a place for the whole family to enjoy.
Wondering where to sleep at this wonderful park? You can either camp on their clean and beautiful campgrounds via tent or cabin, or you can sleep in comfort at the Spring Mill Inn.
If watching races is your style the Indianapolis 500 is something you don't want to miss. Located minutes from the Indianapolis International Airport, this race day is filled with excitement. Scheduled in May, this event is the highlight of Indiana.
If you choose to come early or leave late there
