The only thing Lauren can think about is the two small children she is babysitting, Jared and Emma. They were playing in Jared's bedroom and Lauren decided to take a quick shower. That's when the power went out. As the live-in nanny is it Lauren's responsibility to protect the children and when the power went out and their screams began, she quickly fumbled around in the dark bathroom for her towel.
Once her hand clutches the towel, she wraps it around her body. The children were screaming down the hall and Lauren was yelling back telling them that it will be okay, she's on her way. But when the pulled on the door knob, it wouldn't open. It is dark outside and black in the house. The children. Are they okay?
"Hang on, I'm coming," Lauren pulls harder but the door will not open. She is frantic now. Then, the screaming stops. The house is silent. Lauren is now worried beyond all belief. Why did they stop screaming? Are they okay?
Just then, the lights to the house return as if nothing ever happened. The door is free and Lauren can open it now. She throws it open and rushed out of the bathroom. She goes straight for Jared's room.
"Jared? Emma? Where are guys?" Lauren calls out. The children are nowhere to be found. Not under the beds, not in the closets, no where.
Feeling in a heightened state of panic, Lauren rushes to check the locks on the doors. Nothing was wrong. They were still locked, no signs of an intruder.
Lauren is rushing all over the house in just her towel. Where could they have gone? They wouldn't have left the house alone like that because it is against the rules, that and the locks were still in place. Had someone somehow gotten into the house and taken the children? Is it possible?
The house is isolated in the country and there are no neighbors close by. There is nothing but wooded forests and dirt road.
Lauren rushes back to the front door and opens it. No sign of any vehicles or footsteps, children or intruders. Lauren feels a sudden urge to vomit from fear. What will she tell the parents when they return? George and Victoria Barnes had went into the city for a night of fun and left her with the children. Lauren decided she had better call George's cell phone, after she calls the police.
The police arrive in about twenty minutes. Lauren is now contacting the parents.
"George? It's Lauren. Listen, there's a problem here. Something has happened to the children." Her voice is shaky.
On the other line, George is in a panic. "What happened? Lauren, are they
