Poetry: Struggling with weight

by Carol Gioia

Created on: February 11, 2009   Last Updated: August 24, 2010

I fight the war
but never win
the consuming battle
to be thin.

A diet of will power
and exercise addiction
results in no cure
for my bulky affliction.

Wielding the scale
for keeping track,
the numbers go down
then boomerang back.

My battle with weight
sees no victory,
when the pounds I lose
keep finding me.
