I remember many days and many poems wrote;
about my being lonely and feeling I'd lost all hope.
Now I have obligations, children, husband and home;
If not occupied by them, it's someone on the phone.
Do I have money to donate, to a special cause?
Do I need vinyl siding?... already climbing the walls;
Do I need any groceries? they'll deliver for a fee;
How about replacement windows? Can they trim our trees?
Who carries our long-distance? Am I registered to vote?
How about cheese and crackers? Do I own a boat?
Can I ask some survey questions? Will you answer honestly?
Do I have the paper delivered? "always something to read!".
Can I offer you a VISA, Master Card, AMX?
No but offer me some cash, and I'll bet I'll say yes!
And so the days of loneliness are so far long gone,
Now on my mind and wish list, and in my favorite songs.
