We have a self confessed cocaine user living in the white house elected to the highest office in the nation, basketball players who self admittedly have engaged in sexual relationships with over 400 women, baseball players shooting up and football players gang banging underage girls who have gotten less media coverage than Michael Phelps. He's 23 and has admitted that it was a mistake a stupid thing to do and that he will not engage in the practice again. The current President of the United States is 47 and he has not admitted or expressed any of those thoughts.
It is ridiculous the amount of time and effort that the media, governing body and even the spectacle some of his previous sponsors have made over the incident. Michael Phelps's tested clean during all of his competitions for drug use and still won eight medals in the 2008 Olympics.
Because we have turned a blind eye to the morally defective life we lead, sexuall immorality, deviant persuasions, imaginary evils of the newest "in." There has to be something that we can train our vehemence on as we definitely do not want to turn it in towards ourself and our lack of fortitude and our escalation of self indulgence.
Do I believe that Mr. Phelps made a wise choice? No I do not believe that he made the best choice that he possibly could have. Was he honorable in admitting what he did and owning up to the choices that he made? Yes. During the past several months we as a nation have witnessed several such realizations that public figures and even that of one who would come to enormous power as a world leader have made poor choices, engaged in dangerous and even criminal behavior and yet of those, only one has immediately admitted his error and made an apology to his fans and the American public. That was Mr. Phelps and he is the youngest of them all, the lowest paid and certainly wields less power than at least one.
In the latest news release from South Carolina it is reported that Michael may be facing drug charges from his admission to smoking from a bong. President Barak Obama has admitted to multiple uses of pot, booze and blow, will he be the up for charges also? Will he be fined by the Democratic National Convention . . . will his sponsors drop him? Well, if they don't its just another double standard isn't it. We changed the subject with my President Obama, now with Michael Phelps its time to just let it quietly float away.
