Waking up with big puffy eyes and ugly a dark circles around your eyes is no treat. Aging, stress and poor eating habits all contribute to this condition, but there are a few things you can do. Try out some of these ideas to get rid of puffy eyes and dark circles around your eyes. Hopefully, waking up will become a real treat each day.
Sleep
Make sure you get enough sleep each night. Lack of sleep produces stress which causes the dark circles around your eyes. Try to get eight hours of sleep each night if possible. Make sure to have some down time an hour before bedtime to relax your body and prepare yourself for sleep. Remove all work, papers or anything in your bedroom that would cause stress and sleeplessness.
Chamomile Tea bags
Another helpful remedy for puffiness around your eyes is chamomile tea bags. Chill the used tea bags in the refrigerator. Lie down on the sofa with the chilled tea bags on your eyes for about ten minutes. The soothing chamomile will help eliminate the swelling around your eyes. Plus, you will feel very relaxed.
Hemorrhoid Creams
Of course, one of the most well known solutions for puffy eyes is Preparation H hemorrhoid cream. Apply a small amount of the Preparation H under your eyes. Gently rub the cream into the skin. The puffiness will go away for a short period of time. This is a quick fix, but it does work well.
Drink Water
Make sure to drink lots of good healthy water to stay hydrated. Reduce the amount of alcohol and soda that you drink. Water is one of the best natural ways to eliminate those dark circles around your eyes. The rule of thumb for staying hydrated is to drink 0.5 ounce for every pound you weigh. So, if you weight 120 pounds you should drink 60 ounces of water a day. Water will flush out toxins and extra salt from your body for better health and a brighter face.
Avoid Salt
Reduce the amount of salt you eat to avoid puffiness around your eyes. Salt causes water retention. Instead of adding salt to your food, use lemon juice or other spices for flavor.
Eat Healthy
A healthy diet will wipe away the dark circles and puffiness around your eyes. Dark leafy green vegetables, red and orange vegetables and whole grain breads are super healthy foods. A healthy diet will be reflected on your face and of course on your waist.
Exercise
Along with eating healthy, take some time to exercise each day. Any kind of exercise that gets the blood flowing will help reduce the puffiness and dark circles around the eyes. Exercise helps get oxygen pumping and benefits the entire body.
There are a number of ways to prevent or eliminate puffy eyes and dark circles. Eating a healthy diet, exercise and getting a good nights sleep will help prevent those puffy eyes and ugly dark circles around the eyes.
