Our lifetime is a string of moments that can seem like a blur. Every moment we find ourselves in a situation which demands our creativity, what we make of each one is up to us. Most of us live out our time with an endless count of moments that are all completely unique, yet in the end, all seem the same. But there are rare occasions where a certain moment will demand more than usual from us, and these are the ones that really matter. They tend to be the most exciting and engaging moments in our entire lives. Most people leave these moments up to fate, or luck. But the truth is that every moment can be like that, it's only up to us to make it so.
In each moment we face, there are opportunities. Despite what you might think, there is always something you can experience. But if your mind is elsewhere, or you are only making a half-effort to be present, you will miss those opportunities to experience life. We really do have a lot to lose from always living in the past or worrying about the future. What exactly do we have to lose?
We would miss out on nature. The natural beauty that is everywhere, as long as you know how to look. You would miss out on music, the most beautiful form of art. You would miss out on friendships, is there a more worthy cause? And you would miss out on love, enough said. If you don't at least try to live each moment as fully as you can, you must ask yourself, can you live without these things?
Living in the moment, you will find it particularly difficult to remain unhappy. Because the truth is, just being alive should be enough for anyone to be happy. There is so much to experience and we have been so lucky to have the time to explore all those aspects of life that interest us. There is a pedal of joy in each flowering moment, and all you have to do is reach out and take it.
There is more truths found in everyday life than in any philosophy, religion or ideology. How can you learn how to live any other way than simply living? Instead of reading about life in books and texts, go out and live it! You will find the truth among all those moments that you live out.
Ideally, at the end of our lives, we would look back and think of our lifetime as not a succession of years, but instead one huge instant. If you can do that, it means you have lived each moment you were presented with. And that is something to be proud of.
