In 2007-2008, the most popular form of cosmetic surgery for the eighteen and younger group was rhinoplasty.Rhinoplasty is done on various people for various reasons. The main problem with teenagers having cosmetic surgery done to their nose is that their bodies are still developing. Because their bodies are still developing, the chance of cosmetic surgery harming them greatly increases. A teenager can have a bump on their nose that they believe is unsightly and want to have rhinoplasty done to correct their problem. However, rhinoplasty is not the be all end all for a teenagers nose. Because teenager's faces are still growing, the nose will fit the face when it is done growing. If a teenager gets rhinoplasty, the nose looses its ability to grow and therefore, the nose will look small when the face is done growing. There are cases in which a kid will break his or her nose and during the healing process, different things can happen. One thing is that the nose will heal up fine and not look any different from before the injury. However, this is not the majority of what happens when a broken nose heals. Generally speaking, the nose will look different whether the size has changed or there is now a bump on the nose that was not their before. This is the main reason for teenagers having rhinoplasty. However, this does not make the procedure any better for a teenager to have. There are always repercussions to surgeries on teenagers and rhinoplasty is no exception. The nose may be the center point of the face, which some people refer to as the focal point of the face; it does not mean that surgery is a good option for fixing a nose that someone thinks is not proportional. Generally, people who think that their nose is extremely unattractive and that the nose needs to be changed, have nothing wrong with their nose, and in the case of teenagers, the nose will generally grow to fit the face. Teenagers should not be concerned with how their nose looks now because it can change over the years. Rhinoplasty in teenagers is too much of a gamble then teens should take because they are at such a young age.
