Pat met Sheena while he was a senior sales manager at AT&T. She was visiting the day she met Pat. Pat asked her out and the rest, as they say, is history. They have been married for about a dozen years or so. No kids, Pat strongly believes that there are enough children in the world already. Perhaps they will adopt one day. For now, they are happy being a childless couple. They didn't talk about it much.
Secretly, Sheena has always wanted to adopt sooner rather than later. Pat didn't know she had already been researching information on adoption. She felt it wouldn't be as easy as Pat made it sound. Although adoption regulations have loosened up immensely in the last several years, she wasn't sure how they would be received.
They have a nice home and drive luxury cars. They lived a very comfortable lifestyle. And yet, in the back of Sheena's mind, she didn't believe they would be approved as adoptive parents. In any case, she faced her fears and made an appointment two weeks from Thursday for the initial interview. Pat might be a little angry at first, but he'd get over it. He would do anything she asked of him and smile the entire time. Yea, it was kind of like that.
Valentine's Day was coming up in a couple of weeks. Perfect. Talk about great timing! Sheena and Pat having their first interview with the adoption agency three days before Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is their wedding anniversary. The day they celebrated their love for one another! It had to be a good sign.
When Pat speaks, everyone listens. He's got one of those deep baritone voices. He loves to talk. Needless to say, that Pat speaks for a living is convenient. He stands way over six feet tall, has long dark hair, usually kept in pony tail. Pat works out, eats well, and has quite a tan. He is a millionaire now, but he didn't used to be. He loves to tell the stories about how he has gone from "broke to millionaire, not once, but TWICE", just to make sure he got it right, he says. As if he's kidding, but he isn't. Pat never jokes about his success.
Sheena is a beautiful woman. Sheena has flawless mocha skin. She stands at about 5'8 and weighs a mere 125 pounds. Her hair is long and straight. She has high cheek bones and arched eyebrows topping huge dark eyes. Sheena works as the Director of a non-profit organization who helps homeless teens off the street and into a better life. She loves her work, it is important work.
The night before the interview, Sheena and Pat were talking logistics, the
