Smile and Nod
With a smile a nod and a yes she did turn
Running away with the lessons she'd learned
To a place beyond denial, beyond all hope
Wishing like hell she could find a way to cope
The pain she could not bear, the hurt was too great
Time for living to die and survive was too late
So she turned with a smile, a nod and a wink
Back into the torture that took her to the brink
Of her own disaster, of her own demise
Anyone could see if they looked in her eyes
That slowly but surely she was giving in
And the pain was numbing her judgment again
And someday, someway, she would make him pay
For all of the sorrow, for all of the pain
That he forced upon her with his boyish type grin
Plastered on his face while he hit her and spat
While he forced her into things she wouldn't have
Done to anyone, her worst enemies
Would remain less scarred than she would be
By the time he was done with her there'd be nothing left
For her to give anyone, nothing to offer except
A broken down heart, a torn apart soul
A glimmer of a dream and a shimmer of hope
In her deep mysterious eyes that can't hold back the lie
She could only hope it enough, she might never try
To be loved again, to be trustworthy
Even in the best of all company
So with a smile a wink a nod and a turn
She stepped away from his body and the lessons she'd learned
All of them the hard way, it all was too much
She gave up she gave in an broke down because
She could keep lying to herself anymore
Someone had to stop him an who better than her?
Who deserved it more?
