Poetry: Emptiness

Hollow Man.

Watch me strut my

Stuff, pirouetting so

Prettily down a

Street that doesn't matter.

Watch me 'til I reach the corner...

Then I fade into the

Corners of your short-term

Memory.

No staying power, this

Hollow man that has no

Substance.

Just like the movies,

What I coat myself with

Is who I am to the world.

And I am empty.

I am hollow.

This faade is so fragile

And constricting I can't breathe.

But that's not a problem for

A man who isn't there.

That's not a problem for a man

Who is empty.

Won't you watch me a little more?

Give me shape and form;

A reason to exist,

Lest this fragile tree make no sound

When it falls in the midst of this

Concrete forest...
