Poetry: Don't walk away

by Kim Babcock

Created on: February 10, 2009

Why must relationships turn into nuptial marriage?

Was some universal law passed that appends this new clause?

All the loves of my life, feminine~camaraderie bonds,

Insist on dispersing blame, then pack up, and abscond.

Please just look into my soul, affectionate and loyal,

Always treating my queen like a dulcet royal.

Yet, they seem only to notice my matrimonial mordant.

Can't we still live in our comfort without a legal covenant?

Am i insane? Has all sagacious logic vanished?

Is this the reason i'm shunned, ostracized, and banished?

This really is strange, how our populace steps in

To dictate our vivacity with morally~invasive chagrin.

During these Phases of Time, imprinted in womanly affections,

None have sojourned in love's lasting connections.

Where has romantic anecdote gone? Please don't stay away long.

Though i've misplaced loves envisage, i still try to be strong.
