Why spiritual awakening can change relationships

The only true connection is a spiritual connection. We all want that bond, where we project our inner most selves onto the ones we love, and vice versa. We crave that infusion where it is difficult to discern where one begins and the other ends. Sadly, many couples never reach a place of infusion. Four years ago, Lina and Dan Tucker were at what seemed the end of their five-year marriage. Lina walked into the marriage with a profound inability to connect with anyone. She held disdain for commitment, believing that promises were lies waiting to be told. Dan was utterly devoted to Lina and wanted her despite their lack of connection.

Dan endured Lina's frequent mood swings and professed lack of love for him. He was certain that the birth of their two children would change things. After an overdose on prescription nerve medication, Lina wound up on the psychiatric ward or the local hospital. Lina found herself alone and guilt ridden, with a horrible bitterness inside her.

Lina's spiritual counselor guided her out of the bitterness and past the guilt to a place of acceptance. Lina realized all that she had done and why she had done it. She discovered that she truly loved Dan and her children. She even came to accept Dan's decision to not allow her back into his life.

However, Dan saw the change in Lina and he wanted to be a part of it. He was skeptical about spiritual advisement at first. Dan found that he had never gotten in touch with his spiritual nature. Dan accepted that he too had been hiding, and even that he had been a party to Lina's deception by refusing to deal with reality.

Today, Dan and Lina live happily married
