Budget New York City for senior travelers

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is free to seniors all day on Fridays. While in Brooklyn, don't forget to visit the boardwalk on Coney Island.

Check out the City's "Big Apple Greeter" program to experience life as a true New Yorker. At no cost to you, a local volunteer will guide you through one of the City's neighborhoods and show you the sites.

If you want to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island up-close, take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry. Your ride from lower Manhattan to Staten Island and back is free and goes right past these famous landmarks.

EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

During the winter months, enjoy the holiday festivities in Times Square. The summer months provide evenings of free concerts in Bryant Park and neighborhood festivals.

Flea markets and antique markets are commonplace during warmer weather, many of which are no cost to visitors. Check with locals for favorites.
