How to treat canine parvovirus

We have a 4 month old rottweiler (Diesel), and a week and a half ago he was diagnosed with parvovirus, The vet was asking us for around $2500.00 in order to treat him, with a 50%-50% chance of survival, off course, we could not afford that, so we got ourselves 2 pack of 5% dextrose IV, the needles, injectable antibiotic 2 of them, and injectable multivitamins, we put the antibiotic and multivitamin inside the IV and we gave him this IV every 4 hours (about 120 ml), he is around 30 lb,You should give them less or more depending on the weight. If you could get some injectable medicine for the vomiting, it would be awesome, we did not have it, so he was vomiting for around 3 days. Everything we gave him was subcutaneous, they assimilate that very well. After the 3rd day he was improving and the vomits stopped, one thing we were lucky was that he never had bloody diarrhea. So we began giving him plain yogurt for 24 hours and then some food, low residues wet food, preferably lamb with rice, in small portions every 3 hours and instead of water we gave him unflavored pedialyte for another 48 hours . Now it's been a little more than a week and he is a healthy and happy puppy and we are a very happy family, and we only spend $120.00 and a lot of dedication. I'm not saying that you should not take your dog to the vet, but sometimes they don't even care for the pet, they are there for the money, I personally know someone who was a vet assistant and he was the one giving me the instructions, and also told me that sometimes they don't even treat your pet the right way, I also did some research on the Internet and most of the people I see have saved their dog at home, like we did. I know everybody it's not the same and many think I might be crazy but we saved our dog, and nobody is going to take that away from us. There was a point that we thought he was going to died, but we pushed it to the limits, and here we are now. It's also very important that you get your puppy vaccinated ASAP, that could also save you a big deal of problems in the future, Still you will have chances of the dog getting Parvo, but at least it's less. It's also good to detect the virus in an early stage, the sooner you know the better it is. Like I said before mine did not even had diarrhea, that was a very good signal. Another thing to know it's that if you have other dogs you need to isolate the sick one, or it'll infect the rest, after the dog is cured, it's important to clean your house with clorox, inactivate the virus, and please have your dogs vaccinated.
