According to the reports from World Health Organization (WHO), there are over 400 cases of death caused by bird flu since 2003. If a person catches the flu, the symptoms will become apparent seven days later.
In the next three days after the symptoms become apparent, it is similar to the normal human flu. It is hard for us to tell if a person has caught bird flu. What are symptoms if a person catches the bird flu then? The common symptoms of bird flu in humans are:
Runny nose and stuffy nose
These symptoms are much like those of the normal human flu. The person infected with flu virus will have runny nose and stuffy nosy. When he/she blows his/her nose, he/she will find that the mucus is clear at the beginning. With time goes on, the mucus will become thicker. Stuffy nose usually accompanies headache. Since bird flu is contagious, the infected person should use a tissue to cover his/her mouth and nose when sneezing and coughing. Don't litter the tissue. There are bird flu viruses in the mucus, and littering can speed the spreading of the bird flu.
Sneezing and Sore throat
The infected people sneeze, and have a sore throat. Three days later, the symptoms become more severe. Sneezing is the sign of the flu. Sore throat will go with the high fever. The infected people feel thirsty, and they should drink enough water. This is very important. On the one hand, it can help the immune system to fight against the virus; on the other hand, it can help to prevent the person from dehydration. It is also helpful to the throat.
Headache Headache accompanies stuffy nose, coughing and high fever. Actually, headache is caused by stuffy nose and cough. Stuffy nose makes the brain lack of oxygen, and coughing makes the brain suffer from higher pressure now and then. Headache will lead to dizziness, too.
High fever
Normal human flu makes the infected persons run a fever of over 38 centigrade, and the persons who get hit with bird flu virus will suffer from a higher fever, which is usually over 39 centigrade. There must be measures taken to bring the body temperature down. Otherwise, it can lead to complications very soon.
Chest pains
Chest pains result from bacterial pneumonia and muscle aches, which are caused by the bird flu. Chest pains occur three to five days after the symptoms become apparent, accompanied by muscle aches.
Breathing problems
Breathing problems are directly caused by bacterial pneumonia and stuffy nose. When there are breathing problems, it is strongly suggested that
