It appears as if the best of this country has come to pass and may be gone forever. With the election of Barack Obama, it seems as if the dumbing-down of America is complete. Not to mean that Obama is dumb. To the contrary, he is obviously bright, but his seemingly majestic litany of orations, which really had no substance, did the job on the masses. His rhetoric of "Change" was sold to the majority of Americans, and we all swallowed it, hook, line, and sinker. It was quite an artful campaign which had no platform to speak of, just the mantra of "Change". Obama was sold to us as the "Change you can believe in". He was even anointed by Oprah Winfrey as "The One". We now elect our presidents by being taken in by empty rhetoric, and endorsements by the Hollywood crowd. I hope that the real "One" will look down on us with pity and help to see us through the next four years.
The second coming? Now that's really funny, but let's opine non the less. If Barack Obama is the second coming, then I guess we have nothing to worry about. But, if it is as I suspect, that Obama is just another politician who is too young and inexperienced to really lead this country, then we are in big trouble. We're off to a shaky start to begin with, what with most of his appointments having to admit to tax evasion. I wonder why they aren't being arrested and prosecuted? That's what would happen to most of us. Maybe it's because they are members of the party. It sounds like a resurrection of the old Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. These are bad times for this country, no doubt. If you were a member of the party back in the Soviet Union, you did pretty well. As for the rest of the population, they lived in abject poverty, and most turned in despair to drugs and alcohol.
Obama claimed during his campaign to have a plan to fix every ailment which he felt the country was suffering from. From the economy, to health care, to all of our so-called social ills. As it turns out, Barack really had no plans, and the people he's surrounded himself with are the old Washington insiders that we're all familiar with. We've all seen this routine before. There won't be any real change, just more of the same, but with a higher price tag. Biden brings nothing to the table, and one can only hope that maybe Obama has some good people to turn to, but to date I haven't seen any. Maybe he'll go to the good Reverend Wright for some spiritual advice, and the Reverend will tell him to hell with America, the same as he used to preach as the Obama's sat in their pew.
Obama said he was we are going to put all who want an education through college. He has promised all of us some type of government run health care, and he said he was going to help us to become energy independent. Those are some very tall orders from someone who never even authored a bill while he served his short stint in congress. I wonder how he planned on paying for all of this, or if he ever intended to act on any of his campaign promises. Maybe it was just a lot of empty talk from an empty suit. Time will tell, but I'm getting the feeling that we've all been hood winked.
The one thing that remains consistent about Barack Obama is that he is a very capable and calculated orator. He does have the ability to captivate an audience, and he apparnantly loves to hear himself speak. In his first press conference as president, he took a full ten minutes to answer the first question. This is going to be a long four years.
There definitely is an Obama cult, that's for sure, and it grew as it was fed by the left wing main stream media, and most people bought into it. Most thought that Hillary Clinton was going to be a shoe-in, they didn't see Obama coming, and didn't realize just how much the public had had their fill of the Clintons. A deal was cut when it appeared that Obama was going to win the Democratic primary, and she is now our Secretary of State. This will be very convenient for Bill, and was the pay back Hillary was counting on for sticking with him through his philandering.
There are those that look to Obama as if he really is the Messiah. I hope that there may be another Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings, maybe someone like Sarah Palin, who in four years will be more seasoned and can step in to repair the damage that I see coming. In the mean time, we can only hope that Obama is a quick study, and that he won't totally destroy our country.
