To be quite honest, updating a mobile home really isn't all that different from updating any home. The things that you change are basically the same, a few of the techniques, however, may vary. You may want to update your home just so that it feels new and fresh, or you may want to go the extra mile and put in effort to make it look more like a stick built construction. Let's start with updating the exterior.
Outside of your home you will need to inspect the roof, shutters, and siding to determine the condition they are in. Determine what needs updating before you think about what you want to update for aesthetics. When updating the exterior you may want to consider these options:
-Roof: If you have a noisy metal roof, or just a roof that needs to be replaced anyway, there are some excellent options in roofing that can make huge difference in the look of your mobile home. If you live in a single wide, they typically do not have much of an overhang on their roofs, and you may want to consider a roof over as explained here. This method may possibly work on double wides with the same overhang problem. Shingle type can make a huge impact on how your home looks. You may want to consider using architectural shingles for a more distinct look.
-Siding: If you have a vinyl siding that is in good shape, you may be able to get away with just giving it a good wash down with a pressure washer. However, if your siding is damaged or you just want a new look you may want to consider some of the many variations of siding choices that are available today. Siding has come a long way since its beginning now there is even siding that looks like cedar shakes and logs. But your siding options don't stop at vinyl, just about any siding that can be used on a stick built can be incorporated on a mobile home, though be careful doing this as some siding will not move as well as vinyl does. Also be sure to replace your shutters in a color or style that suits your new siding choice.
-Windows and Doors: Updating windows and doors not only help your home look newer but can also help with your energy effieciency as well. A door that is a vibrant color with great details can add a huge impact to the overall look of your home.
-Covered Porch: A porch with a roof can add depth and dimension to your home that it otherwise would not have. Be sure to follow any building codes that you have locally and if you plan on moving the home, do not attache the porch to the home itself.
-Underpinning: The underpinning
