There seems to be no stopping Taylor Swift, the current CMA Entertainer of the Year, and she hasn't even turned 21 yet!
With the release of "Fearless," the follow-up to her multi-selling self-titled debut album; a Hollywood movie under her belt; and a werewolf on her arm, Taylor Swift has shown the world that she is a force to be reckoned with not only in country circles but also in the entertainment world in general.
Swift's debut single, rleased in 2006 was titled "Tim McGraw," after the country veteran of the same name, and it was obvious that Taylor Swift was destined for big things. With the maturity in her voice and the wisdom in her songwriting it is hard to believe that the girl with the big smile, and even bigger hair, is only 20 years old. However, the sweetness in her nature and her songs show that she is still a little girl at heart.
Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989 to parents Scott and Andrea. She also has one brother, named Austin. She began singing at a very early age and by the age of 11 she had already tried her hand at getting noticed in Nashville by distributing tapes of her singing to karaoke tracks. She returned to Nashville several times to work on her music, taking on the role of songwriter in the process. Swift caught the eye of Scott Borchetta, of Big Machine Records, while performing at Nashville's prestigious Bluebird Cafe and was signed to the label. Swift is a complete musician, not only a singer and songwriter but also a guitarist, she plays a 12-string guitar and piano.
Her wholesome image has done a lot to make her a favourite with not only young country fans, but their parents too. She proves that good girls can come out on top with her cute outfits of dresses and boots; her minimal make-up and her crazy curls. Her videos are also very carefully constructed, her new single 'Love Story' tells a sweet Romeo and Juliet tale of finding that one true love that you will spend your life with. After all Taylor is still just a girl and looks like a Disney Princess in her gold ball-gown: living every little girl's dream.
'Love Story' has had it's first airing on British radio as her record company attempt to create an international phenomenon out of the little country girl. Swift has just released 'White Horse' in USA as the follow-up single from "Fearless', it too follows on the themes of fairytales and make believe but in a more realistic, twenty first century setting with lines such as 'it's too late for you and your white horse to catch me now.'
'Fearless' proves that Swift is worth all the hype that surrounds her these days as she works as a model, sings with Miley Cyrus and releases a range of sun-dresses. Only time will tell if she has the staying power of a real country artist but the early signs are definitely favourable. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of Taylor Swift.
