Easter gifts for adults

Egg-cellent Easter Extravagance

Easter is my favorite holiday of the entire year. No day offers such promise as Easter, the day of celebration of the resurrection of the Messiah, Savior of the World, Jesus Christ.

Each year, as Easter Sunday arrives, spring has usually sprung. Early spring flowers have begun appearing, and the world seems somehow new again.

Easter offers a traditional opportunity for sending cheerful greetings and perhaps sending sweet spring gifts to those we love. The Easter Bunny brings baskets of jellied eggs, marshmallow chicks, malted milk robin's eggs, tiny toys and other goodies to children. What great Easter gifts might be appropriate for adults?

Fancy Foods

Easter candy is probably the most popular Resurrection Day gift of all. Chocolate bunnies, peanut butter eggs and gourmet jelly beans are perennial favorites.

Folks who wish to be particularly creative or generous at Easter time might purchase or create a bountiful basket of Easter goodies. A simple or ornate basket, lined with shredded tissue or colorful Easter grass, may be filled with anything from coffees to jams to nuts or even fresh fruit.

Bath Basket

A similar basket might boast a host of bath salts, bubble bath, body lotion and other pampering products.

Festive Flowers

Flowers are the center of any spring celebration, especially at Easter. The pure white Easter lily is the classic gift for Resurrection Day. Some choose to donate Easter lilies to their local church in honor of a loved one. Others may opt to give the plant directly.

A lily of any color, roses or any lovely spring flower makes a super Easter gift.

Great Garden Goods

With the arrival of spring, many family members and friends love to give garden items, such as potted plants, floral or vegetable seeds, gardening gloves or tools, birdhouses, wind chimes, wreaths and other horticultural items. Easter is the ideal time for selecting and giving religious figurines to adorn a loved one's landscape.

What's the Point?

Of course, Easter is about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's not about stuff. The biggest and best gift has already been bought, when the Messiah paid with His own flesh and blood for our freedom from sin and death. Can any store-bought or home-crafted gift top eternal life in glory?

Perhaps the greatest gift we can give one another at Easter is to gather and share the day. Why not assemble family members and friends to attend church together on Easter Sunday? You might follow up with an Easter brunch at home or in a special restaurant. Being together to celebrate the best holiday of the year is a most memorable gift indeed.
