Once considered nothing more than late night infomercial fodder, mineral based powder foundation has taken the beauty world by storm. Women of all different skin types and tones have grown to love mineral based powder foundation because of the ease of use as well as the superior coverage it offers.
I personally started using mineral based powder foundation with some apprehension. Foundations had always been the most difficult make up product for me to find. Every foundation I tried disappointed me in some way. Most were much too heavy (even when applied with a very light hand) for my skin and would cause me to perspire excessively on my upper lip and forehead. I found this extremely embarrassing and avoided foundation because of it.
As I grew older, a foundation became more of an interest as my facial skin tones had more contrast and blemishes became more apparent. Although generally fair, the apples of my cheeks were becoming more red over time, and I began getting blemishes on my chin and around my nose with regularity.
While flipping through the channels one event, I stumbled across the infomercial for Bare Escentuals mineral based powder foundation and make-up. Although the advertisement claimed that this mineral based powder foundation would be the answer to all my foundation concerns, I was skeptical because so many other foundations had failed me. Despite my concerns, I went ahead and ordered the basic kit.
Getting used to using the mineral based powder foundation took a few days - even though it comes with detailed instructions and you can watch videos about application on the product website. Once I became more familiar with application technique and altered the amount of mineral based powder foundation, I had the kind of coverage I really wanted - something lightweight and fresh-looking. Best of all, this is the only foundation I've ever used which does not make my face break out in a sweat.
Each person has slightly different ideas on what an ideal look will be, so if you are new to mineral based powder foundations and find yourself dissatisfied with it the first time you apply, I strongly suggest giving it a few more chances and experimenting with amounts and application before giving up on mineral based powder foundation completely. I truly believe that this is the best foundation type available and would (and even have!) recommend it to any woman dissatisfied with other foundations.
