Finding cat furniture for your beloved cats may be easier than you think. While some cat furniture can range in price between ten dollars to almost three hundred dollars, cheap cat furniture can be made easily at home, with a few inexpensive supplies.

Cat condos can be made by using some material you may already have hanging around your home. Cat condos can be made from cardboard, scrap wood, old storage bins, and large Tupperware tubs. The easiest method for building a simple cat condo is by cutting a hole in a cardboard box, and placing a towel inside. Many "floors" can be added to your cat condo by using packaging tape to affix several different boxes to the "ground floor" box, thus creating a multi-layered cat condo. If your cats are a little more rambunctious, you may want to consider using a large Tupperware storage container in lieu of a cardboard box for your cat condo.

Simply cut holes in the sides of each container and stack them on top of each other and you have an industrial cat condo! Try using different containers such as old wooden crates- these make an especially fun cat condo, as your cat will more likely use the wooden crate as a scratching post, and not your sofa!

Other cheap cat furniture, such as cat trees can be made with plywood and old wooden crates. Simply nail or screw a wooden post or beam to a piece of flat plywood. Once you've mounted the plywood to the floor, you can add "branches" to your cat tree by nailing or screwing pieces of driftwood to your base. An extremely easy cat tree can be made by screwing an actual tree branch to a wooden base- and voila! You have an instant cat tree! Once your cat tree is finished, tie pieces of string to the branches with cat toys and catnip attached to make your cat tree your cat's favorite piece of cat furniture in your home!

Other great materials to use on your cat trees are pieces of old wall-to-wall carpeting, covered over old banisters, ceiling beams, and plywood. These will make great scratching posts and "branches" can easily be added to create a cat tree design.

But what if you don't want to make your own cat furniture? You can still buy cheap cat furniture online and in pet stores that will look stylish in your home and turn into endless hours of kitty fun! Many online websites offer free shipping and handling, and have great do-it-yourself ideas.

Most of all, the safety of your cats is very important. Make sure to test all designs before you let your cat use his or her new cat furniture.
