Why pay for perscription drugs that are costly when natural home remedies work the best? Here are some suggestions of what we do in the west to keep ourselves healthy and get well from an illness.
Being from the west, I've learned many a home remedy my grandmother used to use. These remedies have been passed down from generation to generation and some other people have heard of them as well. Some are still used today by us country folks for we do not believe that modern medicine is greater than old time beliefs and remedies. Our way of life is much cheaper as well.
When your out on the range, it's virtually impossible to go see a doctor right off the bat and run to the local pharmacy to pick up a prescription. A lot of these remedies I am about to post here will help ease if not cure your ailment. Please consult your physician first if you try these on your own. I am no medical doctor to prescribe these remedies for other people but they do work for me.
In the Wild West the cowboy remedies were hot toddies for a cold, An old cure for bunions was a poultice made from cow dung mixed with fish oil. This was applied warm and left overnight. Cold feet can be overcome by rubbing them with onion juice. Old soup bones were burnt it to ash to heal open wounds. A barefoot walk on the 1 May and before sunrise was thought to cure sweating feet. The early morning grass would have a soapy effect, which offer an astringent action to the skin. This could account for its beneficial effects. Another remedy was to washing the perspiring feet in your own urine. A common practice across the world.
Some of you may have heard these from your own Grandmothers who have used these home remedies instead of using Modern Medicine. These are natural remedies which is much chaper than purchasing a $100.00 bottle of perscription drugs from your pharmacy.
Other western remedies are as follows: This list is lengthy but there are great remedies in here.
1.An enema of warm water and common table salt was used to relieve constipation as well as relieve stomach viruses and intestinal infections.
2. Castor Oil works well on insect bites as well as headaches and upset stomachs.
3. Apply warm salt water on a burn and it will help reduce pain as well as prevent infection.
4. Honey helps relieve chest congestionyou can also heat it with a touch of whiskey and apple cider vinegar to help heal cold and flu symptoms.
5. You can create your own homemade cough syrup with a mixture
