Buying a gift for a guy to celebrate Valentine's Day can be a daunting task for a woman. Purchasing a gift for a man can seem like an enigma, not much different from trying to figure out what to buy a kid who likes playing more with the box than the toy. What is she to do on this important day to please her man? Is there any hope for the woman who is fretting over the perfect gift for her significant other?
Absolutely! You don't need to go to your local psychic or consult an astrologer to divine the signs. A man isn't that hard to buy for if you keep a few simple principles in mind. Here is a to-do list of things to keep in mind from a guy who has a few Valentine's Days under his belt.
- Listen! A guy has probably been talking about some gizmo or gadget he has had on his mind. Think back over the past several weeks and you will find something that he will love to receive.
- Think like a man! This one might seem a little difficult, but don't despair. Men won't want flowers, candy, or chocolate. Instead, get him an action movie that the two of you can watch together. Buy him that tool that he has wanted but felt guilty buying. If all else fails, a lacy teddy will never go wrong.
- Cook for him! The old saying is true: the way to a man's heart usually leads through his stomach. Times are tough financially and you may not be able to spend a lot on a night painting the town red. Instead, make his favorite meal, the one that usually takes far too much time to cook. Top it off with some candles and an unexpected kiss and he will be blown away.
- Go the extra mile! There may be something that he loves for you to do that the rigors of daily life keep you from being able to do. Nothing dampens romance like screaming kids, endless chores, and financial obligations. Go the extra mile and make the night something he won't ever forget. Have a beer waiting for him, give him the massage you are always too tired to give, and make an extra effort to spice up the romance. Chances are he won't know what to do with himself when he sees the extra effort you put into considering his sometimes-unfulfilled desires.
- Bury the Hatchet! Any relationship has its fair share of disagreements. Often this can build a wall between lovers that dampens the spirit of a holiday like Valentine's Day. Give it up! Chances are it wasn't that important anyway. You might be surprised how much a simple "I'm sorry" will turn a man on.
Valentine's Day is a fun day. It's your chance to let loose and stoke the fires of romance into a burning flame. Follow these simple ideas and you are sure to get your man's attention.
