In A Dream
It came to me in a dream.
That things were not as they seemed.
It was my worst fear.
Danger was so near.
All alone in the house.
I tiptoed through like a mouse.
I was having an anxiety attack.
This was a fact.
Trying to control my breathing.
I pressed on afraid of what I would be seeing.
Wishing I knew what I was looking for.
In the darkness I continued to explore.
There was a since of urgency and dread.
My God, could someone be dead?
It was time for me to wake.
But, I need to know what is at stake.
Then it happened, I was awake.
But, this dream did not feel fake.
Sitting straight up in my bed.
My hands cradling my head.
I get up slowly and turn on my light.
Maybe the demons this will fight.
I get back in bed and lay my head down.
On my face there is a frown.
Because it came to me in a dream.
That things were not as they seemed.
