Christians believe that Christ is the Son of God, who came to Earth to pay the price for the sins of mankind, who rose again from the dead, offering mankind the hope of eternal salvation, have asked for his forgiveness, and have accepted Christ as their personal Savior. A true Christian will try and follow the teachings that Christ introduced to the world, knowing that at times they are going to fail. But secure in the knowledge that Christ will forgive their failings and offers encouragement through his Word when they are weak and disheartened.
True Christians know that in order to grow and mature in their beliefs they need to be in constant study of God's Word. The New Testament, in particular, is their guidebook. The 27 books of the New Testament gives believers the story of Christ's life and ministry here on Earth. It's only by studying and understanding His teachings that one can mature in their earthly walk. While no Christian can be perfect. we can all seek to grow in our knowledge and understanding. With this personal growth and maturity comes discernment, the ability to identify false teachers and doctrine.
A true Christian is not an individual who tries to force their beliefs on others. Instead a true Christian should try and show the truth of Christianity through the way they live their life. Not in loud words, flashy actions, or headline grabbing proclamations while ignoring those less fortunate. Like Christ, a true Christian should be ministering to others, not for personal glory but rather for the glory of Christ. Remembering that salvation cannot be purchased by anything they can do, it has been freely offered and given by the Savior. Good works will not get one into Heaven, but good works should be a part of any Christian's life. Not for glory or gain here on Earth, but rather as an outpouring of one's love for Christ.
True Christians can be found in any Christian denomination - contrary to the beliefs of some no specific denomination has an inside track on reaching Heaven. Instead Christianity is truly found in the heart, mind, and actions of the true believer. Not in the particular church he or she attends. Nor is any particular translation of the Bible the only one that should be used. Instead the Biblical translation used by any believer is one of personal preference, using based on comfort and understanding of that particular translation or paraphrase. Today there are a number of translations available which target different age groups or
