In Your Skin
You left home for a drink
Chewing charcoal taffy.
You're swimming in your skin.
You wear a cigarette grin
dancing with your whiskey.
You left home for a drink.
You bathe in bathtub gin.
We can see you splashing.
You're soaking in your skin.
You are a breathing stain.
We don't call you daddy.
You left home for a drink.
You are a dying man
but you are always laughing.
You're sobbing in your skin.
You're a mumbling, sweet-toothed sin.
You choke down words like candy.
You left home for a drink.
You're drowning in your skin.

And seen the heart of suns and stars,
The burning
